NEET: The guide you need

NEET is one of the most arduous competitive exams in India. Students dreaming of becoming doctors need to qualify for NEET first in order to get admission to the top government colleges of India. Lakhs of students fight every year to get to the college of their dreams. NEET 2023 batches are on their way to make an entrance. But before starting your preparation there are a few important things that you need to know.

Recent alterations in the NEET exam

According to the recommendations of union health ministry NEET has undergone some change.

The following changes are mentioned below:

  • The states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh fall under the category of a 15% all India quota scheme.

  • It is now a compulsion for Indian students wanting to pursue medical abroad to qualify NEET UG exam.

  • There are no restrictions on the number of times a candidate wants to appear for the exam.

  • Therefore there is a specific age limit that needs to be followed as per the corresponding categories.

  • Candidates studying in NIOS or state open schools cannot appear for NEET.

  • Apart from English, candidates can choose to give exams in any 2 languages they prefer.

  • It is important for the candidates to keep valid ID proof to show before the exam.

Eligibility criteria for NEET 2023

The candidate should cover the following eligibility criteria to appear in the NEET exam:

  1. In order to appear for NEET, the candidates are required to qualify 10+2 with physics, chemistry, biology/ biotechnology, and English as the fundamental subjects with a certified board school.

  2. The average marks criteria for different categories are:

General category-50%

ST/SC/ OBC- 45%

PWD- 40%

  1. The minimum age requirement for appearing for NEET is 17 years.

  2. There is no restriction on the upper age limit of candidates appearing for NEET. candidates above 25 years can also appear for the same until further notice.

  3. According to the new rules, NEET candidates from other categories like SC/ ST/ OBC only need to score 40% in the 12th board's exam to be eligible for the NEET exam.

How to apply for NEET 2023?

The NEET application form and other key points will be posted on the official site of the national testing agency (NTA) by December 2022.

Following are the tips that will guide you to fill the NEET 2023 form:

  • Visit the official website of NEET

  • There you will be asked to register your name, contact number, email ID, and other important details

  • After this you will be asked to fill the registration form

  • Then you will be asked to fill in some personal details like Name, DOB, nationality, qualification, percent of marks obtained in the last board's exam and other details.

  • After this, you will be asked to provide the scanned copy of the required documents in the mentioned size and format only.

  • The students appearing for NEET 2023 can pay fees for the application form via offline and online modes both.

  • The confirmation page would appear at the end only. You need to have a copy of the confirmation page for future reference.

  • Aadhar card is not required for the filling of the application form.

 

 

Documentation requirement for NEET 2023

While filling out the application form you need to have all the necessary requirement so that you don't miss out on anything in hurry.

  • Present passport size photograph

  • Current postcard size photograph

  • Left thumb impression of the Candidate

  • Signature of the candidate

  • Class 110th boards mark sheet

  • Late fees for general category and OBC: RS 1400+1400= 2800

  • Fees for SC/ ST/ PWD: Rs 750

  • Late fees for SC/ ST/ PWD: Rs 750+1400= 2150

NEET 2023 syllabus is formulated on the basis of class 11th and 12th biology, physics, and chemistry. The complete syllabus is prepared by the medical council of India.

Admit card

The NEET 2023 admit cards are released on the official website of NTA a week or two prior to the exam.

Here are some important details you need to know about the NEET 2023 admit card:

  • Admit cards are available online and will not be posted

  • NEET 2023 admit cards are expected to be released by the 2nd or 3rd week of April 2023

  • The candidates must have a print of their admit cards

  • You need to carry along the admit card with you in the exam center

  • If there is any problem with the admit then the candidate must let NEET know.
