NEET 2020 Update

Government Announces Single Admission Test: The government of India released an update on NEET 2020 Entrance Exam on 4th October 2020. NEET exam which replaced AIPMT in 2013 will now provide admission to the MBBS courses in AIIMS and JIPMER too. It was the first announcement after the enactment of National Medical Commission (NMC) Act. The new arrangement will come into force from the next academic session (2020). This will put common standards in medical education sector of the country.

There are 1200 seats in 10 AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) across India and 200 seats in 2 campuses of JIPMER (Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research).

Important amendments for NEET 2020 Entrance Exam, AIIMS & JIPMER

  • A single test for MBBS course in AIIMS, PGI Chandigarh, JIPMER, Puducherry Medical College
  • Single, common counseling window
  • Seats under states' quota will be managed by the state-level counseling committees.

The online application filling process for NEET will begin on December 2, 2019 and will continue till December 31, 2019. National Testing Agency or NTA will conduct the NEET test. Students can download their NEET 2020 Entrance Exam admit cards from March 27, 2020, for the exam scheduled on May 3, 2020.

Introduction of NEXT for PG

The UG students need to appear for NEXT in the final year of their MBBS course. It will check the level of medical education.

  • According to NMC act, NEXT will be the base of license for medical practice
  • NEXT will eliminate the importance of PG entrance and also act as a screening test for entrance to Post-Graduate courses.
  • NEXT will offer to screen for foreign medical graduates

After the NEET 2020 Entrance Exam Result students can concentrate on their UG & internship.

Yet no notification for change in the neet exam pattern and syllabus has come up. It is hoped that there will be no change in the AIIMS syllabus.
